Serve Day is July 16, 2022!
Each year in July, we focus as a church on meeting the needs of our community. We believe that the love of Christ is best experienced when we go and serve others well, and our Serve Day on July 16th is our opportunity to do that!
This year, our students and youth ministry leaders are going to help organize and clean a local food bank so that they can better meet the needs of those struggling with food and financial challenges in our community.
We’d love for your student to be a part! There are limited slots available, but they can sign up by downloading the ‘Serve Day’ app for their phone, signing up for an account, and registering for the ‘Food Bank Organization’ project. You can check out the project details HERE, and if you sign up, be sure to fill out our Serve Team volunteer waiver HERE.
We’ll meet at the Chevy Chase center at 9:00 a.m., and be there until 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be delivered to us at 12:30 p.m., and we will leave at 1:00 p.m.
Though not technically needed, we encourage participants to sign up to receive a free ‘Serve Day’ t-shirt to wear at the event. You can do that HERE, and pick up your shirt during any weekend service in our lobby.
Additionally, if your student can’t participate on the day of Serve Day, but would like to be a part of it somehow, we are accepting food donations to help stock the food bank through July 13th. They are welcome to drop off any food at Summit Church’s Info Center during normal office hours, 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Thursday as well as during the weekend services. You can click HERE to see the most requested food bank items.
If you have any questions, or need to request transportation for your student from the Chevy Chase Center to Summit Church, please reach out to us at youth@summitpa.church.
